For most of history, humans have relied on plants as important sources of medicine. While modern medicine is incredibly valuable and powerful, there remains substantial value in understanding the roles that plants have to play in promoting health and treating disease. Join us for an exploration of the historical and contemporary use of plants as medicines.
Presenter, Brendan Scherer, obtained his bachelor’s degree in Botany from UW-Madison in 2013. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Florida State University where he studies the bacterial microbiome of mangrove trees. Through his teaching and outreach, he is an advocate for botanical science and a greater appreciation for plants in our lives.
