Nutritional Healing offers the service of reiki through our very own, Christine Minzlaff who is also a Reiki Master. If you are in need of deeper physical or emotional healing on top of your nutrition, schedule a one-hour reiki treatment!
Reiki is energy work that originated in Japan. Reiki practitioners offer this traditional healing technique with the intent of manipulating the flow of energy through the client’s body. Unlike massage, reiki uses little to no touch, focusing on stimulating energy flow rather than working the soft tissue and muscles. This movement of energy is done to improve mental, emotional and physical health. The patient can experience various effects, including relaxation, mental clarity, pain relief, decreased anxiety and a sense of overall well-being. Recent studies have shown this is due to the activation of the parasympathetic autonomic nervous system (rest and digest) during a treatment.
Reiki treatment is quickly becoming an accepted presence in hospitals and clinics. Although you may not be in a hospital setting, there are many ways it can support you. Below are just four of the proven effects of reiki treatments for your benefit.
Decrease risk of metabolic syndrome
Metabolic syndrome is a group of symptoms associated with Type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, high body mass index and other chronic conditions. It affects a substantial percentage of the United States population. Though physical activity is typically recommended, reiki has been shown to be equally effective in decreasing metabolic syndrome.
“Many individuals such as those who are overweight, sedentary and at highest risk for the metabolic syndrome, may be unable or unwilling to participate in conventional types of physical activity such as strength training and gym-based exercises. Mind-body modalities are simple, economical, noninvasive therapies, easy to learn, and can be practiced easily by individuals who may experience potential limitations in mobility,” according to Joel Anderson and Ann Gill Taylor at Center for the Study of Complementary and Alternative Therapies, University of Virginia School of Nursing, Charlottesville, USA.
When you think about it, most health conditions can be linked to stress. One of the main health benefits of reiki treatment is stress reduction and relaxation. Reiki works on the parasympathetic autonomic nervous system to shut down the fight-or-flight response we are chronically living in.
A study published in the journal of “Evidence Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine” paralleled the success of improving range of motion through physical therapy versus reiki. The study found that both revealed the same effect. Patients have cited remarkable improvement with ongoing reiki. To go further, research conducted by Demir Doğan from the Gümüşhane University, Faculty of Health Sciences in 2018 states “Revealed that reiki was an effective approach in relieving the pain.” Reiki treatment is also reported to ease pain associated with migraines, sciatica and arthritis. It also reduces symptoms of asthma, menopause and insomnia.
Improved depression and anxiety
A number of new studies have demonstrated the overall mood benefits from receiving continual reiki treatment. The studies showed that once your mood improves from treatment, symptoms of anxiety and depression are alleviated. Negative thoughts and feelings change to positive ones and your mind will find it easier to reach for those going forward. This is a way of “rewiring” the neurological circuits.
These are just four of the many benefits of reiki for human health. Easy and enjoyable makes adding it to your routine a simple decision.
