Town Council Kitchen and Bar

Located in the heart of downtown Neenah since 2016, Town Council Kitchen & Bar is dedicated to serving craft food and beverages that reflects Northeastern Wisconsin’s thriving local food movement.

Owner/Chef Jon Horan grew up in Neenah and worked for a number of years at Zuppas before he left to get his MBA. He realized that food was his true calling, switched gears, and went to Le Cordon Bleu in London. His resume includes La Petite Maison in London and John Besh’s Restaurant August in New Orleans. A local interview source quotes Horan: “My love of cooking started with my grandmother, who also attended the Le Cordon Bleu in London,” he said. “As an adult, my love of cooking was definitely driven by working for Peter (Kuenzi) at Zuppas.”
Town Council Kitchen & Bar offers locally sourced, from scratch New American cuisine. Menus will rotate based on availability from local purveyors.
Given the space, the service is geared towards couples and small groups seeking quality food and drink in a casual and inviting atmosphere. They also have seating at the bar which is essentially a chef’s table facing the grill and stove. With the popularity of this restaurant, they also take reservations!
The menu can be considered New American, with locally sourced, scratch cooking driven by classic French techniques. They have been part of the local food movement, and buy from seasonal and year-round Wisconsin sources.

Nutritionists Kimberly and Erin had wonderful guidance from their waitress on menu suggestions. Everything was delicious and perfectly prepared! They opted for an item from three different sections of the menu displayed in this review’s photos:
Salad – Roasted Beets Salad
Hot Starter – Roast Cauliflower
Main – Duck Breast

After dinner, Kimberly and Erin checked out downtown Neenah’s famous decorated alley next to the Future Neenah office. It makes for a great photo spot and is regularly decorated to match the season or holiday that’s upon us!

Owner Jon Horan invites the community to visit for dinner and hopes Town Council Kitchen & Bar will become a regular stop for area diners.
A small kitchen and bar with a menu reflecting the thriving, local food movement in northeastern Wisconsin has been a great addition to downtown Neenah especially when the owner supports his hometown!
