FAQs

1. Who is Nutritional Healing?

Nutritional Healing is a functional medicine clinic that helps people take their life back. When it comes to perfect health, there are no shortcuts.  Perfect health stems from exact science, and we are redefining health care.  Nutritional Healing believes in the scientific approach when designing weight loss programs, discovering food sensitivities, improving sports performance, and navigating hormone imbalances to name a few.  Nutritional Healing utilizes the top nutrition products available, along with the most sophisticated diagnostic tests to help you achieve optimal health.  We can help you understand your body’s specific nutritional needs by offering:

2. What makes Nutritional Healing different from other diet or food programs?

Nutritional Healing provides a personalized menu planning approach with a nutritionist who has at least a bachelor’s degree in a related field. We start by aligning your health goals alongside specialized lab test results so that you know how to eat for YOU. We do NOT believe in a one size fits all approach, nor will we be advising you on any fad diets, low-calorie diets, macronutrient or calorie counting programs, shake programs or dangerous pills to see health results. We also do not sell pre-made processed meals or snacks as part of your program. When it boils down to it, we want to provide what we like to call, “a semester in nutrition on YOU!” Let’s focus on what foods you need to purchase from the grocery store and combine that with your body to achieve and maintain results!

3. What’s the benefit of working with a clinical nutritionist?

A clinical nutritionist has a master’s of science degree and advanced experience analyzing laboratory testing to get to the root cause of disease. Their passion lies in supporting people’s health through evidence-based medicine (risks versus benefits of medications) and healing therapies through nutrition and lifestyle. We differ from registered dietitians in that a clinical nutritionist is focused on prevention rather than managing therapeutic diets.

4. What does the initial free consult entail?

During a free consult, you will begin by meeting for a full hour with one of our team’s leaders. You will fill out a health history prior to the consult and bring this with you. Our team will discuss your health goals, comprehensive health history, and what your current diet includes. We will explain, based off of your goals, what route of care would be the most beneficial investment for you, the timeframe involved, pricing, and what your personal nutritional program will look and feel like. Bringing all financial decision makers of the household with you is highly recommended so that you are able to start right away.

5. How long should I anticipate working with my personal nutritionist?

Our office believes that transparency is key in our communication with our clients. So, one thing that we share is that there is nothing fast in lifestyle medicine. When one chooses to add health back into their body to nourish themselves and promote natural healing, time is necessary; client compliance will certainly help expedite the healing process. Pharmaceuticals often yield fast, targeted resolution of symptoms for what they are intended to address, but will often create a wave of unwanted side-effects. Many clients opt to continue their nutrition plan beyond the relief of their initial complaints because they realize that feeling great is within their reach. Our free consults are helpful in determining what you may expect as a new client. The average client of Nutritional Healing works with us for at least three months within a personalized program, but could also range to six months or a full year. Your progress and success depend on your level of dedication and the health goals that you come to us with.

6. What happens once I’m done with my program?

Nutritionists educate you about your health and empower you with the tools to live in balance and to become a good steward of your own health. We never feel someone should feel pressured to keep attending appointments for their entire life. Once a client finishes their program, they are always allowed to continue working with Nutritional Healing in some capacity. We offer flexible pay-as-you-go options as well as monthly memberships. Once you are a client of Nutritional Healing, you are always welcome to do lab work testing with us and have access to any routine products/supplements.

7. What does the client experience entail?

Becoming a client of Nutritional Healing entails finally getting the solutions to your health concerns and long-lasting results. We ask the right questions and give you the gift of time that is often lacking in health care. Whether you are looking to improve your body composition, add muscle, lose body fat, or overcome your health condition you’ve been diagnosed with, we are your nutritional experts! Each appointment with us is at least one hour long and will cover all the goals that you are looking to work on. Accountability and encouragement will be ongoing throughout. You will always work with the same nutritionist and develop a friendship beyond health care topics. We understand lifestyle change can be challenging, and our office environment is warm, welcoming and non-judgmental.

8. Does insurance cover your services?

Nutritional Healing does not participate in any insurance plans. Nutritionists and functional medicine are currently not recognized by insurance companies in Wisconsin. However, it may be possible for some services and supplements to be reimbursed by your HSA (Health Savings Account) or FSA (Flexible Spending Account). It is the responsibility of the client to research these options prior to their free consult. Without insurance as an option, we are able to maintain a practice that offers cost-effective options for our patients. We are able to do so as there is no “red-tape” that drives higher rates and costs for many of our offerings. We will provide a statement of payment to any client interested in filing their program fees with their insurance independently. Any additional insurance claim paperwork requests, letters, or itemized receipts will be invoiced for a flat fee of $25. Some of our clients have received partial or full reimbursement for their programs.

9. What methods of payment do you accept?

Nutritional Healing accepts cash, check, debit, credit, HSA (Health Savings Accounts), or FSA (Flexible Spending Accounts).

10. Do you offer payment plans?

Yes, we offer a monthly payment plan to finance the cost of your program. Ten percent of your outstanding balance will be charged each month, in addition to your base monthly payment, as an administration fee. Your credit or debit card will be charged on the first of each month until your balance is paid in full. You must notify us in writing if you would like to change your payment method. A weekly $20 late fee will be charged for unpaid invoices.

11. Will my program affect my entire household? (i.e. spouse, children, etc.)

Your nutrition program is entirely personalized, however, healthy habits may certainly have a positive trickle-down effect on those who live with you! Please do not feel as if you will be depriving yourself or needing to cook multiple meals for the entire family. Nutritional Healing educates on proper nutrition and balance and does so in a way that is supportive for your entire household. We also offer multiple recipe ideas and options for family favorites, as well as sell our own cookbooks that are considered, “spouse-” and “children-“approved! If you have a family member that does want to do a program with you, we offer special discounted rates for each add-on member of the household!

12. How much does this all cost?

By setting up your free consultation, you can expect to find out your personalized program price quote. We are a functional medicine clinic where you will be working proactively with an educated nutritionist. Whereas the price tag may be higher than a fad diet program, the reason is that we are part of the health care industry, not the diet industry. Nor will we be providing you with a fad diet to follow. You will find that your sustainable success will be worth the investment! There are many variables when it comes to us building your program from the length of time, to lab orders, to any potential supplemental products or materials needed, which is why we like to discuss pricing in person once we have collected more facts on your goals. All interested clients are welcome to schedule a complimentary consultation with one of our team leaders to discuss what your personalized route would entail. Whether you’re the healthiest you’ve ever been or are looking to make some changes in that direction, Nutritional Healing would love to join you on your journey.

Insight for pricing of quality services and products: John Ruskin (1819-1900): “It’s unwise to pay too much. But it’s worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money; that is all. When you pay too little you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balances prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. It can’t be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder it is well to add something for the risk you run. And if you do that, you will have enough to pay for something better. There is hardly anything in the world that someone can’t make al little worse and sell a little cheaper – and people who consider price alone are this man’s lawful prey.”
